Product information about "Algal Lime - Lunderland Supplement" Food supplement at naturfutter.de
Supplementary feed for dogs and cats
Algal lime is an essential component of a healthy, meat-based diet. If bones cannot be fed, algal lime is a good alternative along with deer antler meal or eggshell powder.
Composition of algal lime - Lunderland Supplement : 100% seaweed Lithothanium Calcareum, ground and without other additives.
The lime is obtained from the marine algae Lithothanium Calcareum. "In addition to a very high bio-availability, it has an excellent (for organic calcium preparations) calcium / phosphorus ratio of about 420:1. (Ca 34.5%, Ph 0.04%)" (Lunderland), iodine content 20.6 ppm.
Quantity: 100g
Feeding recommendation:
Bones have a naturally healthy Ca/Ph ratio of 1.2:1 - 1.4:1. If algal lime is now added instead of bone, the ratio must be adjusted. To neutralize the phosphorus surplus in fresh meat you need approx. to:
1 KG beef heart: approx. 7g algal lime
1 KG beef without fat: approx. 7g algal lime
1 KG beef head meat: approx. 6g algal lime
1 KG beef rumen: approx. 1,5g algal lime
The above data refer exclusively to the neutralization of the phosphorus excess in raw meat and do not reflect the total calcium requirement of the animal!
An adult dog needs 50-90mg calcium per kg body weight amp day in maintenance metabolism. Puppies and pregnant or tactile bitches have an increased need for calcium. (National Research Council, 2011 - Academy of Veterinary Naturopathy).

The manufacturer writes that:
"Our feed supplements are also pure and unmixed. Thus, a targeted use according to need or the preparation of their own mixtures (eg, according to the instructions of the veterinarian or veterinary practitioner) is possible. We also want to avoid over-supplying the animals with individual substances that are not needed, as is the case in many ready-made mixtures. In addition, the pure administration also guarantees a maximum of effectiveness and makes the product in the end cheaper than mixed products, which are cheaper at first sight. As an example: Many "joint preparations" contain between 10% and 30% green-lipped mussel powder as an effective ingredient, to which many different well-sounding additives have been added as fillers. Lunderland green-lipped mussel powder consists of 100% freeze-dried meat of the New Zealand green-lipped mussel."
