Spring time - tick time

The first signs of spring are here and with them the dreaded ticks will soon accompany us again.

But what is now the most effective means, if I do not want to use chemicals? Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure, but there are some effective, natural means that we can use to protect ourselves and our dog from the pesky little animals. Even without chemistry and unwanted side effects.

Coconut oil: Works from the inside and also from the outside! Rub your dog before the walk especially in the loin area, under the armpits and ears with coconut oil. And give also regularly coconut fat with in the feed.

Coconut oil contains up to 60% of the so-called lauric acid. Studies have shown that ticks avoid skin areas that have previously been rubbed with coconut oil. If they bit nevertheless once, they fell off already after short time again and the danger of the infection with e.g. Borreliose pathogens is thus substantially reduced.

The Anti-Tique Spray by LILA LOVES IT combines organic coconut oil with lemon eucalyptus extract and lavender.

Black cumin oil: Black cumin is a medicinal plant from the Middle East and is known to us, for example, as a black grain on some thread bread.Black cumin contains the plant active ingredient thymoquinone, which has a repellent effect against ticks, mosquitoes or even fleas, both taken orally and applied to the coat or skin.

CAUTION: This does not apply to cats because they lack an enzyme that can properly break down terpenes, which are secondary plant compounds. Terpenes, for example, make up a large part of essential oils and can therefore be absolutely poisonous to the cat. In the worst case, a cat can die from it.

Zepulex: Zepulex flea and tick drops are "informed" on a 0.9% saline solution by means of bio-resonance. The drops are chemical-free, odorless and tasteless. The infestation of fleas and ticks is prevented or at least reduced according to experience. Manufacturer's note: "Sporadically, however, tick infestations may still occur. Under unfavorable circumstances, therefore, a transmission of infectious diseases can not be excluded." These tropicals are suitable for dogs and cats!
